Originally I selected 10 women artists to research and then narrowed it down to the 5 included in the finished book mockup. These final 5 women were selected based on my perception of their relevance to topics we have discussed in class. Each artist is featured alongside a brief biography and a selection of their work. The final list of artists selected includes Alma Thomas, Augusta Savage, Gego, Margarita Azurdia, and Natalia Goncharova. All of these women are, of course, famous and deeply influential in their own regards, however, this is a mapping of artists I personally feel have been overlooked by the mainstream narrative, as well as those notably absent from my own art education.
